There will be more . . .

On Thursday.
I really wanted to do a quality post today, but I can't even think about dragons. Yes. That's how stressed I am. Even DRAGONS are beyond my emotional capacity.http://online.lovetoknow.com/wiki/images/Online/3/3e/Adoptavirtualdragon.jpg
Yeah. I look at that, and I think 'I could blog about that.'
Lie. Blatant lie.
I almost started talking about friendship, and then I almost started talking about stereotypes, and then I almost started whining about my English homework, and so now?
Now, I'm just going to tell you what's in my head.
Unfortunately for my GPA, that isn't much. I'm just really nervous.
If my story, Altered, can stay in the top five on the website inkpop.com until 11 at night on Wednesday, it will be going to the editors at HarperCollins.FLAME-1.jpg picture by opurpledragon
(Cipherqueen made the cover. I'm hoping that if I use enough pictures, you'll be distracted from how boring I'm being.)
*Deep breath.*
Even if it doesn't make it this month, it will next month. That's what I keep thinking. I haven't been promoting very well in March; my internet has been shoddy at times, and Inkpop kills the bandwith for some reason. To be on for one night will kill it for two days sometimes. So . . .yeah, promoting hasn't been really viable. I've done some on my phone, but it's not really the same.
On one hand, that's kinda cool. It means that Altered made it to the top through merit as well as promotion.
On the other, promotion is SO MUCH of this that, quite honestly, if my lack of it comes back and bites me, then I can't say I didn't deserve it.
That said . . .
I really hope that doesn't come back and bite me.

It's not that I'm expecting a contract. It's not that I'm even expecting a great review. I'm actually expecting my story to be shredded.
But hey; by real editors?
Please. Go ahead and shred my story. They've got to know more than I do, and that's the only one who's been doing editing so far. I want Altered to be the best I can be, because starting in May, I think I'm gonna try querying agents again. I did it stupidly last time. Not enough editing. Not enough confidence and definitely not enough grammatical fixes.
...Yeah.
Anyway. Sorry. This was seriously boring, huh?
Well, I'm gonna go watch brainless, mind numbing television off of the DVR and do some read swaps on my phone. I might even do my homework.
...
Or...You know...

Maybe not...

Revisions are my life

Delete Chapter One.
Delete Chapter Two.
Delete Chapter Three.
Rewrite one through four.
Delete bits of revision.
Rewrite.
Add an explosion.
Splice Chapter Five, Six and Seven together.
Chapter Eight is now Chapter Five.
Revisions are my new life.
Sigh.
But I think they might be done by Sunday, if I write like a maniac.
(Note the maniac part in particular.)
The one good thing? I am watching so much less television.
Now, because it's a short post....

Because this is a television show I make time for. (Vampire Diaries.) Because the actors are remarkably good for a vampire television show, and because I am way jealous of that dress and those shoes. And the hair. Oh, and the boyfriend. And....You get the picture.
I'm off to sleep....in seven hours I must wake up.....

A few little things

I spent all today at debate camp. It was great. I was hanging out with some of the most intelligent kids around(excluding my rocket scientist sister. No, seriously, at one point she considered it.)
But it was funny. At one point we started talking about a TV show. It's a show that I watch, and it's been driving me crazy lately. I wondered if it was just me, but no. The girl's I talked to agreed with me.
It's called the Secret Life of the American Teenager. You might've heard of it. If you haven't, I can sum it up pretty easily-Teenagers hooking up, and having to deal with the ramifications.
Excuse me.
I am a teenager. I go to high school. I like painting my nails bright colors, and currently a stack of plastic, sparkly bangles adorn my left arm. I count calories sometimes and stay up late texting about Gossip Girl. There are times I spend too much time thinking about guys, sure, but it isn't my entire life. The show is mildly offensive in that our 'Secret Lives' seem to consist of nothing more than hooking up.
I'm not exaggerating. The show's last episode used the word 'sex' 52 times. It's a 45 minute show.
(Yes, I counted. It annoyed me that much.)
Believe me. As a student in a public highschool, things like that aren't talked about to this extent. Especially with parents. And members of the opposite gender. That's much too awkward.
Who knows, maybe the point of the show is being sarcastic about the stupidity of it all or something. But personally, I was offended . . . Just because we're teenagers doesn't mean we're stupid, hormonal idiots. Some of us have written novels; some of us have achievements that are crazy awesome. (Only the first part refers to me. I'm thinking of a couple other people with crazy awesome acheivements.)
Gah. I don't know. It just truly aggravated me. Why I watch the show, I have no idea. At least I'm not alone; the kids I talked to were just as aggravated.
Sorry if this offends someone who happens to lust after the show. It's just personally not my thing.
On the other hand, debate camp was great. . . There was a lot of hyperness and a couple of weirdo frat boys inviting us to keggers. I don't think they realized we were in high school. They also thought they were very gangster, which was interesting as they were a couple of guys at a local university, not dark, dangerous homeboys.
I'd hoped they'd get more mature after highschool . . . Maybe someday?
